Claude Duet is Anthropic’s new proactive AI agent. If you’re not sure what that means yet, start with what is Claude Duet. This page covers one thing: how to get access, and why you might not have it yet.

How to get Claude Duet

You need three things to use Claude Duet today:

  1. A Claude Pro or Max plan. Duet isn’t part of the Free plan.
  2. A US Claude account. The preview is limited to the United States for now.
  3. A waitlist invite. Anthropic sends these by email in gradual waves.

How to join the Claude Duet waitlist

You join from Anthropic’s official Claude Duet page. According to Anthropic’s help article, the steps are:

  1. Go to the Claude Duet product page and choose Join the waitlist.
  2. Enter your name and email. If you already have a Claude account, use that same email.
  3. Pick your plan and your phone type (iPhone or Android).
  4. Optionally, describe your work. This is a short note about what you do.
  5. Wait for the invite email.

When your invite arrives, accept it on your phone. Sign in with the Apple or Google account linked to the same email you used on the waitlist. Setup can take a few minutes.

There’s no paid shortcut, invite code or third-party download for Claude Duet. Skip any site that offers one.

Why you may not have access yet

If you joined the waitlist and still can’t use Duet, one of these is usually why:

  • Your wave hasn’t come yet. Invites go out gradually, with no promised date.
  • You’re on the wrong plan. Only Pro and Max qualify. Team and Enterprise aren’t included yet.
  • You’re outside the US. The preview is US only.
  • The emails don’t match. Access is tied to the email you gave. Accept the invite with the Apple or Google account linked to that email.

Is Claude Duet available in my country?

Only if you’re in the United States. Anthropic hasn’t named any other countries yet. If you’re in the UK, Canada, the EU, India or elsewhere, you can’t get Duet during this first part of the preview.

Is Claude Duet a separate app?

Yes. Claude Duet is a standalone app for iPhone and Android, apart from the main Claude app. Anthropic’s product page says you can also use it on the web at claude.ai on a computer.

When will Claude Duet launch outside the US?

Anthropic hasn’t said. There’s no announced date for other countries. The only plan Anthropic has shared is bringing Duet to Team and Enterprise plans “later”.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Claude Duet invite code?

No. Anthropic doesn't mention invite codes. Access is tied to the email address you used to join the waitlist. Be careful of any site offering codes or a way to skip the line. The only official way in is Anthropic's own waitlist.

Can I join Claude Duet on the Free plan?

No. During the research preview, Claude Duet is only for Pro and Max plans in the US. Free users can't get it. Team and Enterprise plans can't get it yet either, though Anthropic says those plans are planned for later.

What does "research preview" mean?

It's an early, test version of a product. Anthropic is letting a limited group use Claude Duet so it can learn and improve it. Features, limits and who can join may change before a full launch.

When was Claude Duet released?

Anthropic opened the Claude Duet research preview on October 21, 2026. It started with a waitlist for Pro and Max subscribers in the US. There's no date yet for a wider launch.
